DENVER, CO, October 20, 2014 – On November 9th, as many as 2,000 Girls on the Run participants and coaches from around the Denver area will flood The Great Candy Run with young girls working toward completing their end-of-season 5K.

β€œWe are so thrilled to be a part of The Great Candy Run,” says Lisa Johnson, executive director of Girls on the Run of the Rockies. β€œThe day is so fun for all involved and the smile on the girls’ faces as they cross the finish line says it all.”

Girls on the Run is an after-school program that uses the power of running to change the way girls ages 8–13 see themselves and their opportunities. Girls learn to stretch themselves physically, mentally, emotionally and socially while training for a 5K run event. Girls on the Run currently serves more than 4,000 girls in the Greater Denver area through schools and recreation centers.

Colorado-based Fetal Health Foundation is the sole beneficiary of the event β€” a national 501(c)(3) aimed at supporting the research of treating and curing intrauterine fetal syndromes, serving as a liaison between families diagnosed and the fetal centers that provide care.
