With today’s 24/7 connectivity (email, Facebook, text, instant messaging, Twitter), we are more connected than at any time in history. Ironically, while we are more connected, we are also less personable, kind, and caring. While I love technology, I feel it has brought us further apart in meaningful relationships.
As I unplug from the electronic grid and go out for some exercise, I think about all the wonderful words we can put in front of the word “sweet.” Then it kind of hit me: “Live Sweet.” We allow too many things in our lives to “sour” our moods, our experiences, and our true connection with others.
The Great Candy Run’s tag line is Run Sweet, but the event is really more than a run or walk — it is an opportunity to have fun, to unplug, to do something engaging with family and friends. Think what we could do if all of us worked to live sweet: buy someone an unexpected cup of coffee, hold open a door and wish someone a wonderful day. The best part is how wonderful it will make you feel.
So what do you say? Let’s be sweet, love sweet, live sweet, play sweet, and of course run sweet. Sweetcerely, Lonnie
